Women: A Blessing for the society.

“The day will come when men will recognize woman as his peer, not only at the fireside, but in councils of the nation. Then, and not until then, will there be the perfect comradeship, the ideal union between the sexes that shall result in the highest development of the race.” – Susan B. Anthony

Today is a very special day for the women of the world. Today is International Women’s Day.

On this great day, we would like to talk about the women of India. India is a male dominant country and women were always treated inferior to men. They are exploited everywhere they go. They do not have rights to speak or raise their opinion. They are locked up in their own house to be limited to household work. They are married to give birth to children and raise them. They don’t have any rights to come forward and share their opinion in the society.

From the day a woman is born, she is considered inferior and wastage item and many fathers are not willing to accept the girl child and kill them after their birth. The girls who get saved from killing are always being scolded and insulted. They don’t have rights to go to school and get educated. They get beaten up by their husbands for silly reasons. They get burnt by their in laws after marriage for useless traditions such as dowry. Many husbands are not willing to feed their wives and children and waste their money in alcohol and gambling. Women are forced to illegal business such as prostitution and slavery in order to feed themselves and their children. In India, a woman is being raped every minute by men after which they are left with no option but to commit suicide as the court case takes years to resolve and the criminals roam free till then. Even after so many problems, women are getting stronger day by day. Many of them have convinced their husbands to educate, train and be entrepreneurs.

Women are starting self help groups (SHGs) to start earning through small scale business and not to be dependent on their husbands for their survival and also for education of their children. According to a report by National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB), In Maharashtra, nearly 116 women were tried to murdered due to Dowry, 236 women were tried to murdered due to love affairs and sexual relations, a total of 1611 rape cases were reported against women, 44 cases of incest rape, 9 cases of Child Marriage restraint act were registered. A surprising number of 9161 cases of cruelty towards women by husband and relatives were registered. Dowry deaths of women were reported to be 411 and 5315 women hurt cases were registered. 247 cases of kidnapping and abduction of women and girls were registered and 127 cases of molestation were registered.

We at CRTDP duly respect women. We believe that women are the most beautiful creation of God and should be duly respected and nurtured.

“You can feel her innocence in the form of a daughter,

You can feel her care in the form of a sister,

You can feel her warmth in the form of a friend,

You can feel her passion in the form of a beloved,

You can feel her dedication in the form of a wife,

You can feel her divinity in the form of a mother,

You can feel her blessing in the form of a grandmother,

Yet she is so tough too. Her heart is so tender…. So naughty….. So Charming…..So Sharing….. So Melodious…. She is a women and She is life…”.

We at Comprehensive Rural Tribal Development Programme (CRTDP) have 735 women self help groups (SHGs) in which more than 7000 women have joined and seeking help of CRTDP in order to start their own businesses. We at CRTDP are also working to resolve various crimes and injustice towards women of Nagpur since 2008. Till date, we have resolved more than 1500 cases of injustice and crimes towards women and have reunited the families. We are also providing skill development trainings to women and girls so that they too have some skills to earn and be a financial hand for their families. We as an NGO would continue to love, support, nurture and develop women of India and Nagpur. Without women the world would come to an end because no births would happen.

We wish all of the wonderful women again and pray for your prosperity and success.
